Officers at Singapore’s Woodlands Checkpoint thwarted two attempts to smuggle more than 2,600 vapes into the country on Nov 15, following targeted inspections conducted by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
In a reel posted on ICA’s official account, the agency said that based on intelligence from its Integrated Targeting Centre, officers directed a Malaysia-registered van for further checks. During the inspection, officers found vapes hidden inside boxes placed among electrical appliances and wiring materials. Additional contraband was later discovered concealed within the vehicle’s door panels, bringing the total to over 1,600 vape devices.
In a separate incident the same day, officers inspected another Malaysian-registered car and uncovered 1,000 vapes hidden beneath grocery items.
Two Malaysian men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested in connection with the cases.
