Kelantan police have confirmed a report regarding a 15-year-old girl suspected of offering sex services through the Telegram messaging app. The case has been referred to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) for intervention and care.
Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusuff Mamat, stated that the girl has been placed under JKM’s supervision due to her age and background, which includes a history of being a rape victim.
“We cannot view this case as just a criminal act; it requires a comprehensive rehabilitation approach,” Datuk Mohd Yusuff said.
The police investigation, which is still ongoing, is exploring the possibility that the girl’s actions are a result of personal distress and hardship. She has been living with her father since her parents’ separation.
The case came to light when a single mother filed a police report after her daughter informed her that the teenager was offering these services. The report was made at the Pasir Puteh police station. Police are continuing to gather statements from the family to understand the full circumstances surrounding the case.
