The Ministry of Education (KPM) will implement a book voucher initiative for secondary school students under its jurisdiction in the near future.
In a statement today, KPM said the initiative announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is currently being refined and is expected to benefit more than two million students nationwide.
It said the programme aligns with the ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote reading as a key habit among students, while also strengthening language proficiency and knowledge acquisition.
General education initiatives like this are often seen as part of broader efforts to reduce learning gaps and encourage greater academic engagement among younger generations.
Previously, the Prime Minister announced the RM100 book voucher for secondary school students under KPM and public university students during the launch of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (PBAKL) 2026.
He said the initiative will continue this year and can be utilised at PBAKL 2026, which runs for 10 days starting today until June 7 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
