A man was burnt to death in a tragic accident involving a lorry carrying soil and a car along the Miri Bypass Road in Sarawak this morning.
According to Bernama, the victim, believed to be around 40 years old, was found charred inside a Subaru BRZ after the vehicle caught fire following the collision. The incident was reported to the Fire and Rescue Department at around 9.30am.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said both vehicles were engulfed in flames following the crash, with one victim trapped inside the car.
A distress call was received at 9.31am, prompting firefighters from the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station to rush to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the front section of the lorry completely burned, while the car was totally destroyed by fire. The blaze had already fully engulfed both vehicles.
The victim’s remains were later handed over to police for further action. The lorry driver was reported to be uninjured in the incident.
Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased. Recovery and clearing operations were completed shortly after, with the scene fully brought under control before 11am.
