A violent shooting incident in Lat Bua Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, left one woman dead and another person injured after a man allegedly opened fire at passing vehicles following a motorcycle crash.
Police said they received reports on April 26, 2026, that a man was firing a gun at vehicles along the Khlong Phraya Banlue canal road in Moo 6, Khlong Phraya Banlue Subdistrict. Officers from Lat Bua Luang Police Station, along with investigators and rescue teams, were immediately deployed to the scene.
At the location, a white sedan was found with multiple bullet holes on the driver’s side. The female driver, identified as a 44-year-old local resident, was critically injured and later pronounced dead at hospital. A 60-year-old man was also shot in the arm during the incident.
The suspect, a 35-year-old man from Pathum Thani, was later apprehended along with a motorcycle and three methamphetamine pills found in his possession. Police said he has a prior drug-related criminal record and was initially unable to give a statement due to injuries, before being taken for medical treatment and drug testing.
Reports from witnesses indicated that the suspect had earlier crashed his motorcycle, then stood up and began firing randomly at vehicles, causing panic among motorists. Several trucks, cars, and a pickup truck were damaged in the attack.
Truck drivers described scenes of chaos, with one saying the suspect fired repeatedly at his vehicle after regaining his footing following the crash, while another said a bullet struck his windshield as he narrowly escaped.
Authorities are continuing forensic investigations, including examining bullet trajectories and collecting evidence at the scene before proceeding with further legal action.
