Selangor State Legislative Assembly Speaker Lau Weng San has ordered Taman Medan assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin out of the sitting today after he challenged the rejection of his motion.
Afif, who represents Perikatan Nasional (PN), was removed after expressing dissatisfaction over the Speaker’s decision not to allow his proposal to refer Wong Siew Ki (PH–Seri Kembangan) to the Committee of Privileges and Powers.
Lau said Afif was instructed to leave the chamber and suspended until Wednesday after he allegedly refused to sit down and continued to disrupt proceedings despite being given two warnings.
“Taman Medan, leave. Taman Medan is ordered out today, tomorrow and the day after,” the Speaker said during the winding-up session of the debate on the royal address by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly 2026 sitting.
Earlier, tensions arose after Afif raised objections following the winding-up speech by State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility, Ng Sze Han. He questioned the Speaker’s decision to reject his motion filed last Thursday.
In his remarks, Afif argued that the Speaker had not clearly specified which part of Wong Siew Ki’s speech allegedly contradicted the Sultan of Selangor’s royal address, insisting the matter should have been debated in the House.
The incident briefly disrupted proceedings before the assembly resumed under tightened order following Afif’s removal.
