A homeowner was left in tears after a python entered his house and allegedly swallowed his pet cat, prompting a tense rescue operation in Saraburi Province.
On April 26, 2026, rescue workers were called to a house in Khung Luang Village, Pak Phriew Subdistrict, Mueang District, after 64-year-old Mr. Sompol Phuphichit reported finding a large python inside his kitchen area. The snake was discovered coiled on a steel beam, with a visibly swollen abdomen, raising fears that it had consumed his missing cat.
Rescue personnel used snake-catching equipment to safely remove the nearly 3-metre-long python, which was carefully brought down from the structure. The animal was later secured for relocation back into the wild.
The incident sparked emotional reactions at the scene, with the cat owner becoming distressed and attempting to harm the snake in anger. However, officials intervened, reminding him that pythons are protected wildlife species and cannot be killed under relevant wildlife protection laws.
The owner later expressed deep grief over the loss of his pet, a white cat with blue eyes named “Mew”, which he had cared for over the past year. He described the cat as affectionate and part of the family, noting that it had recently gone missing before the discovery of the snake.
Authorities also confirmed that the homeowner keeps several young kittens at the property, while allowing the adult cat to roam freely around the house.
Rescue teams ultimately placed the python into a bag and released it into a suitable natural habitat after the operation.
