A Thai man was caught on CCTV repeatedly smashing his head into a food plate while dining at a restaurant inside a petrol station in Saraburi province, sparking concern among staff and members of the public over his mental state.
The incident took place at a chicken rice shop in Nong Khae district, with footage of the episode later circulating widely on Thai social media and local news outlets.
In the video, the unidentified man—dressed in a white T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops—was seen talking to himself before sitting on the floor near his table. He then stared at his meal for several seconds before suddenly striking his head against the plate, causing soup to spill across the table.
He went on to hit his head again, breaking the plate, before continuing to eat with his hands and repeatedly striking his head on the damaged dish.
Shocked customers and restaurant staff were seen observing the incident, with one person asking if he was okay. However, the man did not respond.
After the episode, he was seen picking up his mobile phone and leaving the restaurant. A staff member later said he was briefly seen standing outside a restroom before returning to settle his bill.
The petrol station owner, Boonyuen Somrak, said employees later informed him of the incident. He instructed staff to locate the man, but he had already left the premises.
Upon reviewing CCTV footage, Boonyuen said the man was later seen driving away at what appeared to be high speed, raising further concern about his condition and the potential danger to himself and other road users.
Authorities have not been able to identify the man, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
The incident has since drawn widespread attention online, with many expressing concern for his wellbeing and calling for checks on his mental health and safety.
