Perodua Kenari Driver Killed In Collision With Three-Tonne Lorry

Date:

A 44-year-old plantation worker was killed after the car he was driving collided head-on with a three-tonne lorry along Jalan Keningau–Tenom near Kampung Kitung on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Jinus Anang, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 4.15pm incident due to severe injuries.

Keningau District Police Chief, Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai, said preliminary investigations found that the lorry, driven by a 37-year-old man accompanied by a co-driver, was travelling from Tenom towards Keningau when the collision occurred.

“The accident is believed to have happened when a Perodua Kenari veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on crash with the lorry,” he said in a statement.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene, and his body was later transported to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
