Police Hunt Suspect After Woman Stabbed Outside Kedah Restaurant

Date:

Police are actively tracking down a man suspected of stabbing a woman in front of a restaurant along Jalan Titi Gajah here on Sunday night.

Kota Setar district police chief Syed Basri Syed Ali said the incident occurred at around 9.19pm, leaving the victim with injuries to the right side of her neck after she was allegedly stabbed while inside a Mazda 3 vehicle.

According to him, the suspect — who is believed to be known to the victim — fled the scene immediately after the attack, while police are also attempting to locate the weapon used in the incident.

“The motive is still under investigation and we believe both individuals knew each other because they were travelling in the same vehicle when the incident happened,” he said during a press conference at the scene on Monday morning.

The victim, who works as a real estate agent, was rushed to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

Initial investigations found that the car involved belongs to the victim and that she was seated in the driver’s seat during the incident.

Syed Basri added that police are currently searching for the 32-year-old suspect, who is also a real estate agent, to assist in investigations.

Police have urged the suspect to surrender himself and called on members of the public with information related to the case to come forward.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a weapon.

Meanwhile, Syed Basri also dismissed viral claims circulating on social media alleging that the victim had died on the way to the hospital, confirming that the woman remains alive and is receiving treatment.
