Police have arrested five men suspected of being involved in cable theft in Pasir Gudang following a viral video of the incident on social media.
District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said authorities detected a seven-second clip posted on Threads by the account “@inhuman.13”, which showed several individuals using two vehicles to remove cables at the scene.
He said preliminary investigations found that the incident took place at about 4.15am on May 18.
“The suspects, aged between 24 and 27, were arrested during a two-day operation conducted between May 18 and today,” he said in a statement.

Authorities further discovered a transparent packet containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine.
Sohaimi said initial urine screening tests showed all suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.
Checks also revealed that each suspect had prior criminal records involving between 11 and 23 offences related to crime and drugs.
