Sewage Truck Company Apologises After Viral Taman Pelangi Crash

Date:

A company linked to a sewage truck involved in a viral incident in Taman Pelangi has issued an apology and accepted full responsibility for the crash.

F&F Bersatu Sdn Bhd said in a statement today that the incident does not reflect the company’s values, ethics, or standard operating procedures. However, it acknowledged accountability for what occurred and apologised to all parties affected.

The company said a police report has been lodged, investigations are ongoing, and disciplinary action has been taken against the employees involved in accordance with internal policies. It also noted that corrective and preventive measures are being implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The apology follows a viral video showing a sewage truck driving against traffic and crashing into parked vehicles in Taman Pelangi on Dec 10, which sparked public outrage over road safety and driver accountability. Another video clip circulating online appeared to show a man, believed to be a sewage worker based on his uniform, deflating a car tyre.

Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at about 2.55pm along Jalan Sri Pelangi. A 38-year-old man reportedly lost control of the green Isuzu sewage truck, causing it to crash into two parked cars.

One of the damaged vehicles was registered in Singapore and belonged to a 38-year-old Singaporean man, while the other was owned by a 20-year-old Malaysian woman. No injuries were reported.

Police have received reports from both vehicle owners as well as the truck driver. Raub said investigations are ongoing under the Road Transport Act for failing to control a vehicle, and urged witnesses to come forward by contacting investigation officer Sergeant Nur Atiqah Arsin at 014-7159957.
