A dental clinic in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province unexpectedly went viral after a young girl staged a “Spider-Man-style” escape to avoid root canal treatment. In just a few seconds, the child scrambled up the doorframe and perched herself on top of the doorway, leaving staff and her mother stunned and laughing.
According to Xianfeng News, the incident happened on September 22 at the Beimei Yongkang Dental Clinic. Dentists and nurses were preparing to begin the procedure when the visibly anxious girl suddenly jumped off the chair, bolted to the door, and nimbly climbed up the frame until she was sitting at the very top, completely refusing to come down.
Asia Vision News later reported that the entire scene was caught on the clinic’s surveillance cameras and quickly went viral on social media, racking up thousands of views. In the footage, the girl climbs with surprising skill, as though she had practiced before, while staff can only look up helplessly — the atmosphere tense but comical at the same time.
Her mother told reporters she had been waiting outside and rushed in after hearing staff shout in surprise. She explained that her daughter has a habit of climbing doorframes at home and is naturally lively and active. After gentle persuasion from both her mother and the staff, the girl finally climbed back down and agreed to return to the dental chair, allowing the treatment to proceed smoothly.
The impromptu scene sparked a flood of online jokes, with some netizens calling it a “creative new way to escape the dentist,” others quipping “maybe they should anesthetize the legs first next time,” and one joking “usually only pets at the vet climb the walls — did she walk into the wrong clinic?” Many also praised the child’s boldness and energy, saying it worked better than any anesthetic.
