Woman Dies After Fall From KLIA Terminal 2 Balcony

Date:

A 27-year-old foreign woman has died after falling from the exterior balcony area on Level 3 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 on Saturday.

KLIA District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M Ravi said the incident occurred at about 2.20pm, when the woman was seen sitting outside the balcony, crying and shouting in an agitated state.

“Airport personnel and security officers attempted to calm her down but were unsuccessful. A KLIA security officer then tried to approach her to rescue her,” he said in a statement.

However, the woman reportedly resisted and fell into the loading bay area of the terminal.

Medical personnel who arrived at the scene administered emergency treatment before she was rushed to Hospital Putrajaya for further care.

She was later pronounced dead at around 5pm.

Initial checks found that the woman was a Chinese national scheduled to board a return flight to China on May 2.

Police said the cause of the incident is still under investigation, with the case being classified under a sudden death report.

Earlier, a 40-second video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a woman falling from a height at the terminal, believed to be a suicide attempt.

In a separate incident, another video circulated online showing a man lying face down on a grassy area, believed to have fallen at the same airport later that evening. However, his condition has yet to be confirmed, and police said investigations are ongoing.
