A tragic incident unfolded in Parit Sulong on Tuesday when an eight-year-old schoolgirl lost her life after being struck by a van outside her school. The victim, identified as Nur Aini Umairah Mohd Fareez, was believed to have been heading home after classes when the accident occurred.
The collision reportedly took place at about 12.40pm in front of the main gate of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Maimon. The young pupil sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, highlighting growing concerns about safety measures around school zones.
Initial information suggests that the victim had just exited the school compound following the end of the school session. At the same time, a van that had earlier delivered goods was leaving the premises and allegedly failed to notice the child, resulting in the fatal impact.
Her body was later transported to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail for a post-mortem examination. Incidents like this continue to raise questions about traffic control and supervision during peak dismissal hours at schools.
Meanwhile, Batu Pahat district police chief Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed that authorities have received a report on the case. He stated that an official statement will be released once preliminary investigations are completed, as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
