A disturbing case in Kyoto’s Nantan City has shocked Japan after an 11-year-old primary school pupil was allegedly killed by his stepfather, with investigators revealing chilling details surrounding the motive.
According to reports by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), 37-year-old suspect Adachi Yuki admitted during voluntary questioning that he became enraged after the boy told him, “You are not my real father,” which allegedly triggered the fatal attack.
Police said the victim, identified as Adachi Yuki, was found dead in a forested area within the city last month. Following investigations, authorities rearrested the suspect on 6 May on suspicion of murder. He is accused of strangling the boy inside a public toilet on the morning of 23 March.
Investigators believe the suspect initially drove the child to school but diverted the journey, taking him instead to the location where the killing allegedly took place. The suspect has reportedly confessed to the crime during questioning.
He had previously been arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body. During earlier voluntary interviews, he allegedly detailed the events inside the vehicle and admitted to the killing, stating he lost control after being insulted by the child.
Reports also indicate that the suspect, who works as a company employee, had married the boy’s mother last year and later formally adopted the child, making them legally father and son.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the relationship between the pair and the circumstances leading up to the incident, as public shock grows over the case.
