Congo’s Ebola Cases Rise To 282 As Death Toll Reaches 42

Date:

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reported a fresh increase in Ebola infections, with the total number of confirmed cases climbing to 282 following the detection of 19 new positive cases.

According to figures released by the country’s communications ministry on Sunday, the outbreak continues to be concentrated in the eastern regions of the country.

The latest data shows that Ituri province remains the hardest-hit area, accounting for 264 confirmed infections. North Kivu province has recorded 15 cases, while three cases have been confirmed in neighbouring South Kivu province.

Health authorities also confirmed that the outbreak has claimed 42 lives among the total number of recorded cases.

The rise in infections highlights the ongoing challenge faced by health officials in containing one of the world’s deadliest viral diseases, particularly in regions affected by insecurity and limited healthcare access.

Authorities are continuing surveillance, testing and response measures in affected communities in an effort to prevent further transmission and bring the outbreak under control.
