At least 16 people were injured after Russia launched a barrage of missiles and drones targeting Kyiv and surrounding areas overnight and into Thursday morning, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The Kyiv City Military Administration said attacks were recorded at more than 10 locations, with a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy among those injured.
Ukraine’s Air Force said it had destroyed or suppressed 131 Russian aerial targets during the overnight assault, which mainly targeted the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.
The attack involved ballistic and cruise missiles as well as 157 drones and decoys. The Air Force said strikes were recorded at 36 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at five sites.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had struck metallurgical and electronics plants, military-industrial facilities, as well as energy and transport infrastructure in the three regions.
It also said three bulk carriers and a ferry carrying supplies for the Ukrainian military were hit at the port of Chornomorsk.
In Odesa, seven people, including two children, were injured, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said. Apartments on the 14th to 16th floors of a residential building were damaged.
A private house in Odesa was destroyed, while warehouses, a kindergarten, vehicles and garages were also damaged at several locations, the emergency service said.
In Kyiv’s Dniprovsky district, a warehouse, office building, residential properties and cars were damaged, while another warehouse was damaged in Solomyansky district. A warehouse and several vehicles were also damaged in Darnitsky district.
Authorities said the roof of a non-residential building was damaged in Podilsky district.
Across the wider Kyiv region, civilian areas and infrastructure were damaged in the Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv and Bucha districts, according to regional administration chief Tymur Tkachenko.
He said 33 sites were damaged, with the heaviest impact recorded in Brovary, where 14 sites were hit, followed by Fastiv with 10 damaged locations.
The damaged sites included private homes, warehouses, production facilities and vehicles. Tkachenko said no deaths or injuries were reported in the Kyiv region.
