A senior Cambodian government official allegedly shot his own son after chasing down a car carrying his wife and another man, whom he mistakenly believed was her lover.
According to the Khmer Times, the incident occurred at around 8.20pm on Oct 14 in a village on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Residents reportedly witnessed a Toyota Prius being chased and rear-ended by a Ford.
The two vehicles eventually came to a stop at a dead end, where the occupants began arguing.
The government official then allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired several shots, one of which struck the man in the abdomen.
However, he soon realised that the man he had shot was his own son.
According to Sin Chew Daily and Cambodian news platform TNAOT, the official had become enraged after seeing his wife driving with another man, believing she was having an extramarital affair.
He allegedly decided to pursue the vehicle and confront the pair over his suspicions.
The injured son was rushed to hospital for treatment, while the official was subsequently arrested by police.
