A suspected safety incident involving a jungle zipline attraction has been reported at the Xishuangbanna Primeval Forest Park in China’s Yunnan province, prompting authorities to suspend several high-altitude activities while investigations continue.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred on August 3 at the park’s “Jungle Leap” attraction, where a cable on Section B was reportedly believed to have snapped.
A visitor, identified only as Ms C, said she had queued for nearly three hours before staff informed waiting guests that the cable had broken.
She said park employees immediately arranged ticket refunds after announcing the suspension of the attraction.
Ms C also claimed she saw several visitors being carried away on stretchers, although the number of injured has not been officially confirmed.
Later that day, the park issued a notice announcing the temporary suspension of several adventure attractions, including Jungle Leap Sections A and B, the Skywalk, and the Via Ferrata Rainforest Adventure, citing equipment inspection and maintenance.
The Jinghong Emergency Management Bureau confirmed on Monday that the incident was being handled according to established procedures and urged the public to await the official investigation findings.
Meanwhile, officials from the Jinghong Municipal Publicity Department said the incident remains under investigation and that a formal statement will be released once the inquiry is completed.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the number of casualties or the exact cause of the reported cable failure.
