A total of 108 foreign nationals suspected of working at business premises around Taman Sri Bahagia here were detained during an integrated operation by the Johor Immigration Department and the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) last night.
The operation began at 8pm following intelligence gathering and monitoring activities, with authorities focusing on business premises believed to be operated by foreign nationals.
Johor Immigration Department director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the enforcement action was carried out to strengthen immigration law enforcement and curb the misuse of visit passes, work permits and other immigration facilities.
He said comprehensive checks were conducted at identified premises, including verification of travel documents, passes and permits belonging to individuals found at the locations.
“The inspection was carried out to ensure that all foreign nationals present were staying and carrying out activities in Malaysia in accordance with the law,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Rusdi said the inspection resulted in the arrest of 108 foreign nationals aged between 18 and 49 for various immigration offences.
Those detained included 101 men comprising 32 Bangladeshis, 22 Myanmar nationals, 16 Pakistanis, 15 Nepalese, 12 Indonesians and four Indians.
The remaining seven detainees were women, consisting of three Myanmar nationals, two Indonesians and two Nepalese.
All individuals were suspected of committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963 before being taken to the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for investigation and further action.
Mohd Rusdi added that two Form 29 notices, which serve as witness summonses, were also issued during the operation to assist investigations.
