Fourteen individuals have been remanded to assist investigations into the murder of Muhammad Haikal Mohd Shahrilnizam, 19, whose body was found beside a thicket in Gurun, Kedah, yesterday.
The suspects, all male and aged between 16 and 24, were arrested around Gurun from yesterday before being brought to the Magistrates’ Court today for remand applications.
Magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa ordered 12 suspects to be remanded for six days, while the two underage suspects were remanded for five days.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Earlier, Kosmo! Online reported that members of the public discovered Muhammad Haikal’s body beside a thicket near Jalan Harvard Golf Club at about 8am yesterday. The victim was found with injuries to his face and head.
The teenager’s mother, Azura Zor, 41, had previously expressed her grief after her eldest child, one of four siblings, was found dead following a period in which he could not be contacted since last month.
Azura also called for the case to be thoroughly investigated, with those responsible arrested and given appropriate punishment.
