In a sickening case of familial betrayal, a 24-year-old man has been arrested for repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting his biological younger sister over six years, starting when the victim was just 10 years old.
The suspect was detained following a police report lodged by the now 16-year-old girl at 12.51pm on Monday. The latest horrifying attack allegedly took place on Sunday night around 9pm, when he molested her inside their own home.
According to Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor, the traumatised victim finally broke her silence and revealed she had been enduring years of sexual abuse by her own brother.
“The victim disclosed that she has been raped by the suspect since she was 10 years old,” Azli said.
Police are expected to apply for a remand order against the suspect at the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between 8 to 30 years and a minimum of 10 strokes of the cane. It is also probed under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for up to 20 years in prison and whipping.
Investigators are now finalising the case file to be handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
In a shocking revelation, Azli disclosed that Kuala Terengganu police have opened 14 sexual crime investigation papers in just three weeks – between June 1 and June 22, 2026 alone.
He urged parents to educate their children about sexual abuse from a young age and to closely monitor their daily movements to prevent such nightmares from happening.
This disturbing case comes amid several other recent high-profile sexual abuse incidents in the country, including a father allegedly turning his six-year-old daughter into a sex slave.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
