A 40-year-old local man died after allegedly struggling with a house caretaker during a suspected break-in at a home in Jalan Building Society, Taman Star, Ipoh, on Tuesday.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred at around 5am, when two suspects allegedly entered the house through a window that had been forced open.
A struggle then broke out between the suspects and the caretaker.
According to Mohd Alwi, one suspect managed to escape, while the other was found unconscious at the scene and was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem later determined that the cause of death was blocked coronary arteries, he said in a statement.
The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR).
Police are continuing investigations under Sections 457 and 324 of the Penal Code, while efforts are ongoing to locate the second suspect, who remains at large.
