Thirty-two houses in Jalan Pudina 7, Taman Langat Utama 2, Bukit Changgang, were affected by flooding after an embankment reportedly burst late on Wednesday night.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 4.12am on Thursday, prompting an immediate response to the affected area.
Assistant Director of Operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said six firefighters and officers from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the location, which is approximately 19 kilometres from the station.
Upon arriving at 4.35am, rescue personnel found floodwaters had already entered the residential neighbourhood, affecting dozens of homes.
Initial findings indicated the flooding began around 11pm after an embankment located roughly 800 metres from the housing area gave way, allowing water to surge into the neighbourhood.
Water levels were estimated to range between 0.3 metres and 0.9 metres, causing significant disruption to residents and raising concerns over further flooding.
Fortunately, most residents had evacuated their homes before authorities arrived after noticing the rising water levels and deteriorating conditions.
Authorities have advised those still affected to relocate to safer areas as a precaution while monitoring and assessment efforts continue. The incident highlights the importance of early evacuation and preparedness during sudden flooding events.
The cause of the embankment failure and the extent of damage remain under investigation.
