A man escaped without injuries after the car he was driving skidded off the road and plunged into Sungai Langat near the Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Dusun Tua, Hulu Langat last night.
The incident happened at about 9.13pm after the driver allegedly attempted to avoid an animal that crossed the road, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said initial investigations found that the 56-year-old local man was travelling from Sungai Congkak towards Nilai when the incident occurred.
He said the driver claimed to have spotted an object believed to be an animal crossing the road from left to right.
“The driver’s attempt to avoid the object caused him to lose control of the vehicle before it skidded and fell into Sungai Langat,” he said in a statement today.
Naazron said the driver did not suffer any injuries, while the incident only resulted in damage to the vehicle.
He added that no other vehicles were involved and no public property was damaged in the incident.
The case has been classified as a routine traffic report.
Naazron also advised motorists to exercise caution when using the route following two similar incidents reported in the area.
He reminded drivers to slow down gradually and avoid making sudden manoeuvres when encountering animals or obstacles on the road, as such actions could cause vehicles to lose control.
He urged all road users to practise safe driving habits and prioritise safety to protect themselves and others.
