A 31-year-old courier truck driver was killed in a three-lorry collision near the northbound exit of the Slim River Toll Plaza at 10.56pm on Wednesday.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the crash involved a three-tonne truck carrying courier parcels, another three-tonne lorry transporting vegetables and a 10-tonne lorry carrying fish.
The courier truck driver was trapped in his vehicle following the collision, while the other two lorry drivers escaped without injuries.
Sabarodzi said the fire and rescue team leader assessed the scene before applying the SAVER concept and directing firefighters to carry out rescue operations.
The trapped driver was eventually freed from the wreckage.
Medical personnel later confirmed the victim’s death before his body was handed over to the police for further action.
