Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) issued 19 compound notices and carried out 32 seizures during an integrated operation targeting illegal photography services, commonly known as “ultra photographers”, around the KLCC area last night.
In a statement, DBKL said the operation, dubbed Op Lens: Ulat Foto, was conducted in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the National Registration Department (JPN) at key public hotspots including the Saloma Link, Jalan Ampang and Jalan P. Ramlee starting at 9pm.
DBKL said the enforcement action focused on individuals offering photography services without proper authorisation in public spaces.
Among items seized were mobile phones, lighting equipment, gimbals and other gear used for the activity, with 13 of those involved identified as foreign nationals. The enforcement was carried out under the Licensing of Hawkers (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) By-Laws 2016.
The authority added that it will continue monitoring and taking enforcement action from time to time to ensure public areas remain free from unlicensed photography activities that violate regulations.
