DBKL Issues 11 Compounds to Six Contractors During Capital’s Public Road Checks

Date:

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) recently issued 11 compound notices to six construction contractors during its Public Road Excavation Operation across the capital.

The operation, conducted from 10:30 pm on Friday to 3:30 am the following day, covered Jalan Kerinchi Bangsar, Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Segambut, and Jalan Raja Muda, Titiwangsa.

DBKL said inspections focused on repair and maintenance work by contractors, including pipe installations, road resurfacing, drain repairs, and utility work involving water, electricity, and telecommunications.

“Across eight monitored locations, 11 compounds were issued to six contractors for failing to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs),” DBKL stated. Common violations included missing warning lights, damaging footpaths, closing roads without permission, transporting construction materials without permits, and littering public areas.

Two compounds were issued under the Transport of Materials By-Laws (WPKL) 1997, while the remaining nine were under the Roads, Drains, and Buildings Act 1974.

DBKL will continue monitoring and enforcing regulations regularly. Public complaints or feedback can be submitted via DBKL’s portal.
