A 28-year-old food delivery rider was injured after allegedly being assaulted by a customer in Kelana Jaya yesterday.
The victim, who wished to be known only as Man, said the incident occurred while he was attempting to deliver an order from a fast-food restaurant at a petrol station in SS6 at about 4.45am.
He said he reached the delivery location around 5.30am but was unable to find the premises and contacted the customer for directions.
Man claimed the customer did not respond clearly and repeatedly asked whether he had arrived at the location before ending the call.
He said the situation escalated when he approached two men believed to be the customer and his companion, who allegedly became aggressive without warning.
According to him, a dispute broke out when one of the men went behind his motorcycle and behaved suspiciously, before tensions quickly escalated.
Man alleged that one of the individuals struck his helmet while another punched him on the left side of his face.
He added that his mobile phone was snatched and thrown onto the road during the altercation, and he was later forced to flee the scene after more men allegedly appeared nearby.
The rider said he sought refuge at a nearby residential area and sought help from residents before contacting emergency services.
He later returned to the scene and found his motorcycle still intact, while his phone had been placed back in its basket.
Police arrived at about 6.15am, and the victim was later taken to the station to lodge a report.
Petaling Jaya Deputy Police Chief Superintendent M Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly confirmed the report, adding that the case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 427 of the Penal Code.
