Man Arrested After Snatching Phone During Fake Sale Deal In Shah Alam

A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a mobile phone by posing as a buyer during a transaction in front of a Hicom apartment in Shah Alam yesterday.

The incident took place at about 11.20am when the suspect met a female victim, who is a property lawyer, after expressing interest in purchasing the device.

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah said the police received a report on the case involving an iPhone 17 theft at about 12.30pm the same day.

He said the suspect initially engaged the victim in negotiations before suddenly snatching the phone.

The suspect allegedly pushed the victim, causing her to fall, before fleeing the scene on a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle.

Acting on information, police tracked down and arrested the man at about 8.45pm the same day to assist investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
