Derailed LRT Coaches Moved To Depot For Technical Checks

Date:

The train cars involved in Thursday’s derailment on the Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT line have been successfully placed back on the tracks and transported to the depot for further inspection and technical assessment.

In a Facebook update, Rapid KL said the four train cars that derailed near Chan Sow Lin station were safely removed during an overnight recovery operation.

The exercise involved coupling the affected train cars with a specialised track vehicle, allowing them to be moved from the site in a controlled and secure manner.

Rapid KL said efforts are being intensified to restore normal services as quickly as possible while ensuring passenger safety remains the top priority.

LRT services along the Ampang-Sri Petaling Line were disrupted following the derailment on Thursday, causing service adjustments across the network.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke previously said preliminary investigations pointed to a malfunction in the switch box system, although the exact cause of the failure is still being determined.

He added that repair works are progressing and the affected track section is expected to resume operations no later than June 3.

Despite the disruption, all stations along the Ampang-Sri Petaling Line remain open, with train services operating under a modified schedule throughout the recovery period.
