Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the interim allocation for Sabah will be increased to RM1.5 billion, up from RM600 million, while discussions continue over the state’s constitutional claim to a 40% revenue entitlement.
According to BuletinTV3, he said the government remains committed to implementing Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and is currently finalising the mechanism for its execution.
Anwar stressed that the principle of the 40% entitlement has already been accepted as a policy that must be carried out, with no further debate on its implementation.
He said what remains is the detailed refinement of how the entitlement will be delivered in a fair and structured manner.
The prime minister added that the government is not seeking to delay the process but is ensuring that every step is handled carefully and responsibly.
He made the remarks while officiating the 2026 Sabah Kaamatan Festival at the Hongkod Koisaan Hall of the Kadazandusun Cultural Association in Penampang.
Earlier, the Court of Appeal had allowed the federal government’s application for a stay of execution on a High Court ruling concerning Sabah’s 40% share of net federal revenue, pending the outcome of an appeal.
