Motorists in Padang Luas, Jerteh, Terengganu were left stunned after dozens of catfish ended up scattered across the road, creating an unusual scene that quickly went viral online.
The incident gained attention after a Threads user, @tsyaaa.my, shared several photos showing large catfish covering a significant stretch of the road.
“Winning without a contest — a catfish pond on the road. Padang Luas, Jerteh,” she joked in the post.
The photos showed dozens of sizeable catfish scattered across the road and onto the roadside, forcing motorists to slow down and take extra care while passing through the area.
A user identified as @hamimishahira later explained how the fish ended up there, saying they belonged to her brother-in-law, who was transporting them to a newly opened pond.
“These are my brother-in-law’s fish. He was on his way to deliver them to a newly opened pond. The lorry broke through the fence,” she said.
The unusual incident drew plenty of reactions online, with the post receiving more than 1,900 likes and over 1,000 shares by this afternoon.
Some users responded with jokes about the unexpected catch, including Tisya, who quipped: “Can pick them up to make pecal lele.”
Another user, Qila, commented: “These fish are so big, they must be for a fish pond.”
