A 21-year-old man was killed in a road accident involving two vehicles along Jalan UMS Sepanggar, opposite Alamesra, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident, which occurred at about 5.34am, involved a compact car driven by the victim and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The collision caused both vehicles to veer off and come to a stop by the roadside.
According to Lintas Fire and Rescue Station chief Noor Sherriyana Bohari, emergency services received a distress call via the NG999 line at 5.34am before a team was dispatched to the scene.
A fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, involving 10 personnel, were deployed to the location, which is about seven kilometres from the station.
Firefighters arrived at 5.44am and found the compact car driver trapped inside the vehicle following the crash.
Rescue personnel used special equipment to extricate the victim from the wreckage before he was confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officers.
The victim’s body was later handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action.
The MPV driver, a 57-year-old man, escaped unharmed. Authorities confirmed that the operation concluded at 6.55am after the area was declared safe.
