Driver Loses Control While Reversing, Five Vehicles Damaged In Bukit Pinang Crash

Date:

A moment of driver negligence while reversing has been identified as the cause of a five-vehicle collision in Taman Pinang Emas, Bukit Pinang, on Friday.

Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Syed Basri Syed Ali said initial investigations found that the incident involved a Perodua Myvi driver who lost control of the vehicle while reversing out of a residential parking area.

He said preliminary findings indicated that the driver, a 63-year-old woman, had just started her journey to work at around 6.45am when the incident occurred.

“As she was reversing out of her parking space at speed, she lost control and crashed into a neighbour’s fence and several vehicles parked within the compound,” he said in a statement.

The incident resulted in damage to multiple vehicles, including a Honda Civic, Toyota Alphard, Ford Ranger and a Honda X-ADV motorcycle, all of which were parked in front of the neighbouring house. The affected vehicles sustained damage to various parts such as bumpers, windscreens, bonnets, rear lights and indicators.

The driver did not suffer any injuries, although her own Perodua Myvi sustained damage to several parts including the bumper, rear lights, exhaust and other components yet to be fully assessed.

Police confirmed that the case is being investigated under Rule 17 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
