An 87-year-old man died after being involved in an accident along Jalan Labis-Segamat near the UMNO building in Segamat on Sunday morning.
The incident, which occurred at about 8.15am, saw the elderly victim trapped underneath the front section of a lorry following the collision.
Segamat Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer I Tajudin Baharudin said six firefighters and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
He said the location was about two kilometres from the fire station and the rescue team immediately carried out efforts to free the victim.
“The Operations Team worked to remove the trapped victim before he was confirmed dead by the medical team.
“The victim was later handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
The rescue operation was completed at 9.20am.
No further details regarding the cause of the accident have been released, while investigations are being carried out by the authorities.
