Elderly Woman Caught On Camera Yanking Passenger’s Hair In Shocking Priority Seat Clash On MTR

Date:

A heated altercation on Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR) has gone viral after an elderly woman was seen allegedly attacking a younger passenger in a priority seat dispute.

In a video circulating on Threads, the older woman is seen grabbing the younger woman by the hair while both were seated in designated priority seats on a moving train. She also appears to shove and stomp on the younger passenger during the confrontation.

Priority seats on public transport are intended for passengers in greater need, such as the elderly, pregnant women, and those with disabilities. However, the situation on board reportedly escalated into physical violence instead of cooperation.

According to eyewitness accounts shared online, another passenger attempted to intervene verbally, urging the elderly woman to stop and accusing her of occupying multiple seats with personal belongings. Despite this, the confrontation continued before the younger woman eventually changed seats.

The younger passenger did not appear to retaliate and remained largely silent throughout the incident, while other commuters looked on in shock.

The clip has since sparked widespread discussion online, with several netizens claiming the elderly woman is known for frequently occupying multiple seats during peak hours, particularly on the Tung Chung Line. Some also alleged that she has previously refused to give up seats even when other elderly passengers requested them.

As the video continues to circulate, many have called for greater enforcement of public transport etiquette and stronger measures to prevent similar disputes from escalating into physical altercations.
