An elderly woman was injured after the car she was driving was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the Fortune Park Commercial Centre area here on Sunday night.
The incident prompted an emergency response from personnel of the Fire and Rescue Department after a distress call was received at about 10.58pm.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre, firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene immediately following the report.
Upon arrival, rescuers found that the crash involved two cars, with the elderly woman still inside her Perodua Myvi. Although she was not trapped, firefighters assisted in safely removing her from the vehicle through the rear hatch without the use of special rescue equipment.
The victim was then handed over to medical personnel from the Ministry of Health before being transported to Bintulu Hospital for further treatment.
After ensuring the situation was under control and the area was safe, the operation was concluded at 11.20pm and the rescue team returned to the station.
