An elderly woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Baling-Kuala Kangsar near a tin smelting factory in Klian Intan today.

The 63-year-old victim, who was trapped in the front passenger seat of a Perodua Kancil, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Perodua Kancil and Proton Saga, both believed to be in their 40s, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a team from the Pengkalan Hulu Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location after receiving an emergency call at 9am.

He said firefighters found that the accident involved a Perodua Kancil and a Proton Saga which had collided head-on.

“The operation commander conducted an initial assessment before instructing personnel to use rescue equipment to remove the trapped female victim.

“The victim was later examined by medical personnel, who confirmed that she had died at the scene,” he said.

Sabarodzi added that the victim’s body was handed over to the police, while both injured drivers were taken to hospital by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team.
