BYD driver Raeven Goh Wey Haur has paid RM36,000 in bail after pleading not guilty to three charges under the Road Transport Act 1987 over a crash that killed a five-year-old girl in Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur.

The 24-year-old bank officer, who wore a face mask, was seen leaving the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex at noon today, accompanied by his father and lawyer.

Goh was charged with driving a BYD Seal dangerously and causing the death of five-year-old Asiah Ahmad Syahir under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, as amended in 2024.

If convicted, he faces between five and 10 years in prison and a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000.

He also faces a second charge of dangerous driving under Section 42(1) of the same Act, which carries a prison term of up to five years and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000.

The third charge is for allegedly failing to stop after the accident, under Section 52(1), punishable under Section 119(2) of the Act. The offence carries a fine of at least RM2,000 or imprisonment of up to six months.

All three alleged offences took place at about 3.44pm on Oct 10 along Jalan Kuching, on the route from the city centre towards Segambut.

The court fixed Nov 19 for the next mention of the case.
