A suspected burglar fled empty-handed after being spotted by a homeowner in Bukit Setongkol, Kuantan, in the early hours of Thursday, leaving behind the motorcycle he had used to reach the house.
Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said the suspect allegedly entered the property by climbing over a fence before attempting to steal several items, including an aluminium ladder and electrical cables.
However, the homeowner noticed the intrusion, forcing the suspect to flee before he could take any of the items.
“The suspect also left the motorcycle he had used in front of the house,” Ashari said.
The incident, reportedly occurring at Taman LKNP in Bukit Setongkol, has since gone viral on social media.
According to posts shared online, the incident allegedly took place between midnight and 12.45am and involved five houses that were reportedly broken into.
Ashari said the incident was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV), adding that police were actively tracking down the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which concerns criminal trespass.
