Fiery Crash Tragedy: Two Co-Workers Die In Burning Car

Date:

Two colleagues were killed after the car they were travelling in skidded and burst into flames in an early morning crash along Jalan Sungai Besi heading towards the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at around 3.01am and involved a grey Honda City Hatchback.

He said the vehicle was driven by a 29-year-old local man, accompanied by a 23-year-old local woman.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both victims were colleagues believed to be on their way back to Ampang after attending a dinner event organised by an international banking company.

“Initial investigations found that while navigating a bend at the scene, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before skidding and crashing into a roadside pillar wall,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire and become completely engulfed in flames.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel from the Cheras station were deployed to extinguish the blaze and assist in removing the victims from the wreckage.

The driver suffered severe burn injuries, while the female passenger sustained serious head injuries.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police are also conducting further investigations, including efforts to obtain CCTV footage from the area to assist in the probe.

Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to contact the Tun H.S. Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
