The search for a Form Three student who went missing five days ago ended in tragedy after his body was discovered at an oil palm plantation area along Kilometre 8.2, Jalan Kluang-Kota Tinggi early Friday morning.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Nasrulhaq Kamaruzaman, 15, was found by members of the public at about 2.30am beside his Yamaha 135LC motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said initial investigations found that the teenager was believed to have been involved in a self-accident after losing control of the motorcycle he was riding.
He said the victim suffered serious injuries to his body and legs due to the crash before dying at the location.
“The victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Kota Tinggi Hospital for further investigation procedures.
“The case is still under police investigation and is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, the teenager’s family had sought public assistance to locate him after he was reported missing upon leaving his home at Felda Simpang Waha on Saturday night.
Muhammad Nasrulhaq was last seen leaving the house at around 11pm while riding a red and black Yamaha 135LC motorcycle. The discovery of his body brought an end to the family’s five-day search.
The incident serves as a reminder for road users, especially young riders, to prioritise safety and exercise caution while travelling to prevent similar tragedies.
