Date:

A 42-year-old food stall assistant was killed after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a road divider along Jalan Gong Kapas, Kuala Terengganu, in the early hours of Friday.

The fatal accident occurred at approximately 1.58am, claiming the life of Mohd Faizal Ali, who was riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle. He sustained severe injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been travelling home to Pasir Panjang from Kuala Terengganu town when the accident happened.

According to police, the motorcycle is believed to have suddenly gone out of control upon reaching the scene before crashing into the central road divider. The impact caused the motorcycle to veer into the opposite carriageway.

The collision left the rider with fatal injuries, and he could not be saved despite the emergency response.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

The latest tragedy serves as another reminder for motorists to remain vigilant and exercise extra caution when travelling during the early hours, when visibility and road conditions may increase the risk of accidents.
