A 29-year-old foreign worker died after being electrocuted while carrying out lamp post installation works at Kampung Malinja A&B, Nabawan, on Tuesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call at 11.49am and dispatched a team of six firefighters from the Nabawan Fire and Rescue Station, who arrived at the scene seven minutes later.
Operations commander PBK I Gustin Asin said firefighters removed the victim, identified as David Karpus, from the hazardous area before medical personnel from the Health Ministry confirmed his death at the scene.
The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further investigation and follow-up procedures.
The rescue operation was brought under control at 12.12pm and officially concluded three minutes later.
The operation also involved three personnel each from the Health Ministry and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
