Form One Student Burned With Cigarette by Senior Over Refusal to Smoke

Date:

A Form One student at a boarding school here suffered burns after being reportedly burned on the chest with a cigarette by a Form Five student for refusing to smoke.

The 13-year-old victim sustained burn injuries and was taken to Bentong Hospital for further treatment.

Pahang Police Chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said following a complaint lodged by the victim yesterday, the suspect was detained at the school hostel in the afternoon for further investigation.

“The student is still in custody and is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code. Preliminary investigations found that the victim refused to smoke despite being pressured by the suspect, which led to the cigarette being used on him,” he said today.

He added that the victim, who received treatment at Bentong Hospital, did not suffer serious injuries. Investigations indicate that only one suspect was involved in the incident.
