Hospital Sungai Buloh paid tribute to a late corneal tissue donor by lighting up its premises in green, honouring a final act of kindness that could give others hope of restoring their sight.
The hospital said the tribute was held following the death of Mr Satar, who reportedly died in a road accident while on his way to a mosque.
Despite the devastating loss, his family made the decision to donate his corneal tissue, allowing his final gift to potentially benefit patients in need of corneal transplants.
Healthcare workers at Hospital Sungai Buloh were seen lining the hospital corridors to pay their final respects to the late donor.
The hospital was also illuminated in green as a symbolic gesture to honour Mr Satar and recognise his family’s decision to donate his tissue amid their grief.
Corneal tissue donation can help patients with certain eye conditions regain or improve their vision through transplantation, giving them a chance at a better quality of life.
The tribute also highlighted how organ and tissue donation can allow a person’s legacy to live on, even after their passing.
Many members of the public praised Mr Satar’s family for their compassionate decision, while also expressing appreciation for the healthcare workers involved in caring for patients and facilitating the donation process.
