A house in Kuala Lumpur has caught Malaysians’ attention after an auction listing described the property as a “house with murder case being auctioned”.
The two-storey freehold link house is located along Jalan Hujan Emas 5 in Taman Overseas Union (OUG), Kuala Lumpur, and was listed for auction at a reserve price of RM810,000.
The listing, shared by Facebook page KL Selangor Lelong Properties on Aug 28, stated that the property measures about 1,755 sq ft. The auction is scheduled for Sept 24, 2026.
While some might be put off by a property allegedly linked to a murder, many Malaysians appeared more interested in whether the house was worth its asking price.
One commenter joked: “Empty pockets are scarier than ghosts.”
Another said they would consider buying the property if the price fell to RM550,000, while others suggested that RM810,000 was still too expensive given the alleged history, with suggested prices ranging from RM680,000 to RM750,000.
Some commenters were also unfazed by the possibility of supernatural activity, sharing jokes about having a ghost as a free housemate or even getting it to help with the cleaning.
Others focused on the property’s location, with one describing the area as desirable and suggesting the house could be a good buy if the price dropped below RM700,000.
As curiosity grew, a Facebook user asked the property page which murder case it was referring to.
In response, KL Selangor Lelong Properties shared a Sinar Harian report dated Dec 31, 2021, about a 78-year-old man who was charged with murdering his 72-year-old wife at a house in Taman OUG.
The incident was reported to have occurred at about 4.16pm on Dec 21, 2021. The man was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, although no plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
However, the report only identified the location as a residence in Taman OUG and did not provide the exact street address.
Therefore, although the auction page linked the 2021 murder report when questioned about the property, it remains unverified whether the house being auctioned is the same property where the alleged murder took place.
