Husband Of AKPS Officer Found Dead In Nilai Has 16 Previous Criminal Records

Date:

The husband of Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, who was found dead at a government residential complex in Nilai on October 15, has 16 previous criminal records, police said.

Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said checks found that 10 of the records were related to drug offences, while the remaining six involved housebreaking, theft and possession of stolen property.

However, an initial urine screening test on the suspect, who is in his 30s, returned negative for drugs.

Johari said police had recorded statements from 18 individuals to assist in completing the investigation. The suspect had previously worked as an event management crew member.

“Investigations are still ongoing, and we will refer the investigation papers to the prosecution on Wednesday for further action,” he told Utusan Malaysia.

He added that police had not received any reports concerning marital problems involving the victim before the incident.

Norhazwani was previously found dead in a government staff quarters unit in Nilai. Her husband later surrendered himself at the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi Police Station in Sepang, Selangor, to assist with investigations.

A post-mortem examination found that she died from pressure on the neck. The examination also revealed stab wounds on the side of her abdomen and her cheek.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a marital dispute after the victim reportedly expressed her intention to seek a divorce.

The couple had been married for seven years and had two children, aged six and five.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days until October 22 to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
